Questions
Short answers. If yours isn’t here, contact us.
01What is this, exactly?
A hosted connector — an MCP server — that lets Claude and ChatGPT work with QuickBooks Online Canada. Each person adds it to their own AI assistant and signs in. It can then read, search and summarize the books and prepare changes as drafts for you to approve.
02I’m a business owner, not a bookkeeper. Is it for me?
Yes. Connect your own AI assistant to your own QuickBooks Online Canada company and ask in plain language: cash in the bank, overdue invoices, who owes you what, profit and loss, sales-tax totals. The GST/HST, PST and QST review runs on your file too. Any change is prepared as a draft that you approve. If you have a bookkeeper, invite them into the same account so you both work from the same drafts and answers. It doesn’t replace your bookkeeper or accountant, and it doesn’t give tax advice or file returns.
03What if I need more than one company?
The owner plan covers one connected company. For a second company, move to the firm plan: $199 a month covers your first 10 files. See the pricing page.
04What is an MCP server?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is how AI assistants connect to outside tools. Claude Code, Claude Desktop and ChatGPT can all add an MCP server as a connector.
05Is this Intuit’s, Anthropic’s or OpenAI’s connector?
No. It’s an independent service. As of May 30, 2026, Intuit said its own Claude integration was available in the US, with no confirmed date for Canada.
06Do I need to install anything?
No. Everything runs in your browser. There are no developer keys to set up and no card needed to start.
07Will it change my books?
Only when someone on your account approves. Every change is a draft first. Closed periods are never changed. The master bookkeeper can let the AI assistant approve some kinds of change; that is off by default, and voids and deletes are only ever approved by a person.
08Which AI apps work?
Claude Code (one command, then /mcp to sign in) and Claude Desktop (Settings → Connectors). Custom connectors depend on your Claude plan; check Anthropic’s plan details. ChatGPT works too: Plugins → Connect to a custom MCP, then sign in.
09Do you charge for the AI?
No. Each person uses their own Claude or ChatGPT subscription. There is no AI chat inside the app.
10Which provinces are covered?
All of Canada: GST + QST in Québec; HST in Ontario and the Atlantic provinces; GST + PST in British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Manitoba; GST in Alberta and the territories.
11What if a client’s province isn’t known?
The client shows “Province unknown” and province checks are skipped. The app never guesses a province.
12Is it an accountant?
No. It flags things for review and explains why. You, your bookkeeper and your accountant decide. It doesn’t give tax advice or file returns.
13What happens when the trial ends?
Without a card, the firm becomes read-only: you can still read and export everything. After warnings on day 23 and day 29, it’s deleted on day 30. Adding a card restores everything.
14Can I restrict a bookkeeper to some clients?
Yes. The restriction applies everywhere, including that bookkeeper’s AI assistant.
15Is it in French?
Yes. Everything — screens, emails, exports — is in French and English.
16Does it work with QuickBooks Desktop or Xero?
No. QuickBooks Online Canada only.
17I work with several firms. Do I need several accounts?
No. One login can belong to several firms.
